As an international student, you'll need to make an advance payment when you've accepted your offer to study at NTU. You'll then need to pay your tuition fees in full, or have an agreement to pay in two further instalments, before the start date of your course. You'll find full guidance on this page.
NTU partner with Flywire and Convera to accept payments from UK and international students worldwide.
Flywire is our preferred payment method. It's quick and allows you to securely make your advance payment and additional tuition fee payments in your own currency. Flywire supports a variety of local payment methods including bank transfers and credit cards. You'll also be able to track your payment every step of the way. Read further guidance on using Flywire, as well as the other payment methods available.
Easily and securely make your advance payment and additional tuition fee payments in your own currency, using local payment methods from the safety and convenience of your home. Flywire allows you to pay the University via bank transfer and credit card.
You can follow this step-by-step guide or watch our video to see how it works.
Once Flywire receives your payment, it typically takes between 2 to 3 business days to process and deliver the payment to your institution.
Flywire will send you a delivery confirmation email once your funds have been delivered to your institution. You will then be able to access your payment receipt via the delivery email.
Please note, payments are not processed during the weekend (Saturdays and Sundays) or on bank holidays.
Convera is a flexible payment method as it allows you to pay in your local currency and your payment can be tracked.
To make a payment to the NTU through Convera follow the steps below or watch our video:
If you have any queries or need support please call 01733 871 871 or contact Convera online.
Please enter the full amount of your PEAP course fees into Option 5: ‘Pre-sessional English fees’.
There are numerous benefits to using Convera, including:
Payments originating from the following areas cannot be made through Convera:
The NTU Online Store can be used to make your advance payment using a credit or debit card. If paying this way you'll receive instant confirmation of the £6,000 payment via email.
Please make your PEAP course fees payment in full on the online store by selecting 'Product Catalogue' then 'Arts & Humanities' then 'Pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes'.
If you are unable to make payments using the above methods, please contact international@ntu.ac.uk for advice.
One of the conditions of your offer to study at NTU is to make an advance payment. This is the first payment towards your tuition fees. This payment amount has changed and is now £6,000.
Being prepared and able to pay your course tuition fees and fund your living in the UK is important to make sure you’re a happy and successful student. Worrying about your finances can spoil your university experience or even worse being unable to pay your fees means you would have to leave your studies and return to your home country.
The advance payment of £6,000 means we know you can demonstrate you’re carefully planning and preparing for the costs of a university degree.
This advance payment does not change your course tuition fees and will be deducted from your tuition fee amount.
It is advised that you should only proceed to pay the advance payment and request a CAS when you are confident you have met the academic conditions of the offer.
We recommend you pay your £6,000 advance payment as soon as you decide NTU is your preferred university and you have met your academic conditions.
Once you are ready to pay your advance payment, we encourage you to make the payment. This is so we can issue your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies).
Visa application services can become very busy, particularly as we get closer to the start of the course. Therefore, paying as soon as you can allows time for you to receive your CAS and submit your visa application to give yourself the best opportunity to arrive on time for the start of your studies.
You can make the advance payment to the University in the following ways:
If you have concerns about making the payment of £6,000 in one payment, please contact the International Development Office for advice.
Your advance payment is only refundable if your UK visa application is rejected (for non-fraudulent reasons), or if the University withdraws your offer of a place due to failure to meet the University's academic entry criteria.
When you have made your advance payment, and met all other conditions of your offer, we’ll confirm your place on the course. Making this payment towards your fees will also show on your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) which you’ll use when you apply for your visa.
The advance payment (sometimes called a deposit) will be deducted from your total tuition fee amount. You can then pay the remainder of your fees in full, or in two further instalments after you enrol at NTU (please see our guidance on how to pay the remainder of your fees).
We’ll send you more information closer to the start of your course.
If you have already made your advance payment before 11 April 2024, you do not need to pay an additional amount.
If your payment is not yet showing on your Applicant Portal, UCAS or you’ve not yet received confirmation from NTU, but you paid before 11 April, you also do not need to pay an additional amount.
If your studies are being fully funded by a sponsoring organisation, we will need satisfactory proof of sponsorship (such as a Financial Guarantee) from your sponsor to waive the advance payment condition. See guidance for sponsored students on this page.
When you have met all of your offer conditions and your place at NTU is confirmed you will need to pay the remainder of your fees.
You can pay these in full using one of the NTU payment methods listed above.
Alternatively, you can use a valid credit or debit card to set up an agreement to pay your fees in two further instalments, the first of which will be due in your first term.
You will be asked to set this up when you begin online enrolment for your course at NTU. If you opt to pay in instalments, your card will be debited on the following dates:
You must ensure that you have sufficient funds in your account on these dates for payments to be made to the University.
After moving to the UK, if you need to amend the card details to use your UK bank account, you can change the payment details on your instalment agreement, if necessary.
Please note: there can be serious consequences for non-payment of fees. If you would like more information please read terms and conditions for NTU fee payments.
For PEAP courses you must pay your PEAP course fees in full:
Please note: You will be required to pay the advance payment when you have completed your PEAP course and are progressing on to your degree.
Your advance payment is only refundable if one of these categories applies to you:
You will need to complete and return the refund request form along with any supporting evidence if any of these reasons apply.
If you feel there are exceptional circumstances outside of these categories then include them in your refund request form. Exceptional circumstance cases will only be considered with accompanying official documents that support the request.
You can request a refund up to 3 months after the start date of the course. After this point, your request will not be accepted.
Please note, the refund process takes a minimum of 12 weeks once the refund is approved and provided you have given all the information correctly on the request form.
We will not consider an advance payment refund for any of these reasons:
If you do not enrol after deferring your place to the next intake, you will only be able to receive a refund if you do not meet the entry requirements and can demonstrate you have attempted to do so, receive a visa rejection (except for fraudulent reasons or a repeated attempt where not enough funds demonstrated) or experience exceptional unforeseen circumstances between now and the next intake which mean you cannot join NTU. A refund is not guaranteed in these circumstances and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and only when accompanied by official documents that support the refund request.
If you have already paid your advance payment, before you defer your offer and advance payment, we recommend you consider your circumstances. You can submit a new application for your course for the next intake if you are eligible to request a refund now. You can email international@ntu.ac.uk if you need any more advice.
You can only make additional payments towards your accommodation and fees online if your offer is unconditional (which means that you have accepted your offer, paid your advance payment, and met all the conditions of your offer).
You can also pay by calling our Finance team on +44 (0)115 848 6500 or by bank transfer. It can take up to 10 working days for the money sent by bank transfer to be processed.
NTIC students do not need to make an advance payment.
You need to pay your fees in full or set up to pay in instalments by the following dates:

If you have applied through a partner institution, one of your offer conditions may be to make an advance payment. We recommend you refer to your offer letter for details of how to make this payment, if appropriate.
If you're applying for a Student visa you can make payments towards NTU accommodation that we declare on your CAS statement. You can do this on Convera.
Please note that you must accept your offer, pay your advance payment and meet all your conditions before you can make these payments. The maximum amount the UKVI will take into consideration for NTU accommodation payments is £1,265.00.
Payments for accommodation booking fees (which become the damage deposits after key collection) are not included in the 'accommodation fees paid' on your CAS as they are not considered to be part of the fee.

A number of scams may target international students in the UK. Here's some guidance on how to help you protect yourself and ensure you are never a victim of a scam. NTU Student Services can assist you if you are concerned about anything in this advice or if you believe you have already made a payment that you believe was not to a legitimate source.
A scam is a dishonest scheme (often illegal) designed to trick someone into giving money. Scammers may contact you by telephone, email, text, WhatsApp, WeChat or another social media platform.
They will often pretend to be from an official organisation (the Home Office/UKVI, the police, the Courts of Justice, an Embassy), and may appear genuine as they hold information about you (passport details, address etc). They may say that there's a problem with your visa, that you have not attended a court hearing, or are suspected of a crime.
As a result they will demand money, often calling it a fine, to rectify the problem. They often claim that if you don’t pay quickly, the fine will increase, you will be deported, or your visa will be cancelled.
If you receive a request that you're unsure about and need to check it with someone, or have been a victim of fraud, contact either international student support at int.support@ntu.ac.uk or 0115 848 2631, or the Students' Union at advice@su.ntu.ac.uk or 0115 848 6260.
